Thoughts from T&T My 40 year high school class reunion is this October, and the time certainly went by quickly. Graduation day 2008 is coming soon for a lot of people, and May and June are months of celebration. Much hard work goes into getting that degree or diploma and graduates are to be congratulated. Whether its high school, college, or even kindergarten, graduation is a benchmark of having accomplished a goal. It means a person is moving on....moving up.
When a Christian dies and goes to be with God, he or she has indeed graduated from earth to heaven. But the hard work, the “sacrifice,” was done by Jesus on our behalf. It is His accomplishment on the cross and in (and out) of the tomb that qualifies us to graduate or “move up”.
Graduating from school is very important, and we should let this year’s grads know we are proud of them. A higher education will serve them well with better pay and more opportunities to advance.
But graduating from this earth to heaven pays eternal benefits, most important being forever in God’s presence. Are you ready to graduate?

 | | Dr. Michael Youssef | Dr. Michael Youssef host of Leading The Way, heard Monday - Friday at 4:00pm on WCHP 760AM, "founded The Church of The Apostles in 1987 with fewer than 40 adults with the mission to "Equip the Saints and Seek the Lost." The church has since grown to a congregation of over 3,000. This church on a hill was the launching pad for Leading The Way's international ministry. While heard by millions at home and abroad, behind every message preached over the airwaves is a pastor's heart, longing to feed and care for people. Clearly God has uniquely equipped Dr. Youssef to speak to a worldwide audience. The path he has walked has given him a thorough cross-cultural understanding and a firm grasp of Scripture. He preaches, teaches and exhorts with a straightforward and uncompromising delivery, based on the authority of the inspired, infallible Word of God. His unique, firsthand understanding of the Holy Land, its history and culture, brings the Bible to life for listeners.
Leading The Way claims Dr. Youssef as the ministry's number one volunteer. He receives no compensation for his time, nor does he receive royalties from the sale of any of the resource materials he produces and authors.
God called Dr. Youssef even before birth and is using Leading The Way today to reach millions of lost souls, to equip the saints, and to build up the Church of Jesus Christ worldwide." (source: leadingtheway.org)Victoria Day

"In Canada, the celebration of Victoria Day occurs every year on Monday, prior to May 25th. It is the official celebration in Canada of the birthdays of Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II. Victoria Day was established as a holiday in Canada West (Now Ontario) in 1845, and became a national holiday in 1901. Before Victoria Day became a national Holiday, people had celebrated Empire Day , beginning in the 1890s as Victoria approached her Diamond jubilee in 1897. Victoria, queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and empress of India was born on 24 May 1819. She ascended the throne after the death of her uncle George IV in 1837 when she was only 18. She ruled until her death in 1901 when her son Edward the VII became king of England."

Victoria Day is May 19th. Memorial Day
 | | Memorial Day is May 26th. | "Those who will, may raise monuments of marble to perpetuate the fame of heroes. Those who will, may build memorial halls to remind those who shall gather there in after times what manhood could do and dare for right and what high examples of virtue and valor have gone before them. But let us make our offering to the ever-living soul. Let us build our benefactions in the ever-growing heart, that they shall live and rise and spread in blessing beyond our sight, beyond the ken of man and beyond the touch of time." --Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain Memorial Day 1884
"These heroes are dead. They died for liberty-they died for us. They are at rest. They sleep in the land they made free, under the flag they rendered stainless, under the solemn pines, the sad hemlocks, the tearful willows, the embracing vines. They sleep beneath the shadow of the clouds, careless alike of sunshine or storm, each in the windowless palace of rest. Earth may run red with other wars-they are at peace. In the midst of the battles, in the roar of conflicts, they found the serenity of death." --Author Unknown
